Vall Llach – Porrera – Priorat

Vall Llach was created by two childhood friends from Emporda, notary Enric Costa and beloved Catalan singer, Lluis Llach. Initially, they were one half of Cims de Porrera with the other half being Josep Lluis Pérez, but sold their shares in 2001.

Trivia: neither Lluis nor Enric  drink  wine or any alcohol at all. The reason they started a winery was not their love of wine but to be beneficial to the village, especially after the floods that devastated the farming lands of the county back in 1994 and, logically, robbed many families of their means of  living.

The Vall Llach cellar is located in Cal Valdrich,  in front of the old stone bridge, probably the oldest country house in Porrera. The recent renovation of the house is really a sight to see, with very intimate details like a corner devoted to Catalan poet and writer Miquel Martí i Pol , who was a very close friend of the founders.
