Castellet harvests from about four and half hectares of vineyards, of which 25% have 85 year-old Carignan planted among rough licorella stones. They started formally bottling their wines in 2005 with a small release of just 1,500 bottles. In the five years prior to this, they were experimenting a great deal with the grape blends.
They’re still a small production winery with a total of 7,000 bottles a year, between their three red wines and about 30% of their grapes being sold to other wineries. Their third wine, Empit Seleccio, is a limited edition made with grapes from their oldest vines and it has been highlighted with the “Vi de Vila” certification.
